Despite the much changed Londoner’s share of the early chances, it was Dinamo who broke the deadlock when El Arabi Hilal Soudani exposed Mathieu Debuchy to set up Josip Pivaric after 23 minutes. Matters became even worse for the Gunners when Giroud received his marching orders after a second booking for a late challenge on Ivo Pinto. After the break they doubled their lead when Junior Fernandes escaped Laurent Koscielny from a corner. Theo Walcott did well to beat the offside trap, notching one home late on. But it was too little, too late as the Croatians recorded their first win in the competition since 1999.
