UCD library has extended the opening hours of the James Joyce Library in the run-up to exams. The changes will mean the library is open 8 am till midnight Monday to Friday and 9 am till 9 pm on the Weekends.
The updated hours take effect immediately and will run until the 19th of December, with the Autumn trimester exams due to finish on the 22nd of December. The changes are designed to allow students more study time during the busiest stretch of the semester.
The UCD Students Union has welcomed the move. On Twitter, UCDSU thanked the Library for ‘taking the time to listen to student voices and endeavouring to provide students with somewhere to study.’
The UCD library continues to operate under a booking system due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and requires students and those using the library to sign in upon arrival.
Despite the new, longer opening hours, the library still only allows users to book seats for a maximum of eight hours a day. Full details on the opening hours of all UCD libraries can be found here.
