TCDSU have extended an invitation to the UCDSU Campaigns and Communications Officer Barry Murphy and UCD for Choice to meet with them outside the Front Square of Trinity College at 12:30 pm this Saturday for the March For Choice. Speaking to the Tribune TCDSU president Kevin Keane said: “Barry and UCD for Choice accepted our invitation to meet at Front Square in Trinity this Saturday so the student movement can unite behind what is clearly a student issue.”

Keane was on campus this morning for a meeting with UCD for Choice and Barry Murphy to discuss the March for Choice and planning for the year ahead as reported by the Tribune last night. He added “Trinity, UCD and frankly all students are profoundly affected by the 8th amendment and it’s important to present a united front against the 8th’. He further outlined his want to collaborate saying “it makes sense for pro-choice leaders in UCD and Trinity to work together as much as possible because we have the same goal – that being to remove the 8th amendment from the Constitution”

The March for Choice takes place this Saturday at 2pm and is expected to be the largest ever. The government confirmed yesterday that a referendum on the 8th amendment will take place in May or June of next year.
