When the name ‘Jimmy Fallon’ comes to mind, people usually think of comedy, celebrities, skits and just pure fun – which is exactly what this man is about.
Jimmy Fallon broke into the comedic world when his lifelong dream came true when he got the opportunity join the cast of the phenomenal and fall off your chair laughing live late night comedy show ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 1998. He spent six years making people laugh with sketches such as ‘Weekend Update’ alongside comedic genius Tina Fey. After his successful skint on SNL, which made his name well known amongst lovers of comedy and himself known as a talented comedian, he decided to jump into the world of film and later appeared in movies such as ‘Taxi’ and ‘Fever Pitch’.
However, in 2009, Jimmy got his very own late night talk show ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ which ran successfully up until 2014, until he got the opportunity to take over the role of the host Jay Leno who was retiring from ‘The Tonight Show’ – which had been on air since 1954 with the very first host of the show being Steve Allen. Fallon didn’t have to move far from his very first home (Saturday Night Live) as ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ is filmed just down the hall from the iconic studio 8H in Rockefeller Centre, New York which houses the SNL set.
His show is one of the most popular late night talk shows on air and every week night he attracts millions of viewers with his funny ways and popular celebrity guests. What’s different about Fallon is that he is not afraid to try different things which would not normally be done on late night shows. He frequently does games or activities with his celebrity guests – such as beer pong and mad libs (which my personal favourite sketch is with other SNL legend, Kristin Wiig!) This also allows viewers to be able to see some of their favourite celebs in a more fun and different way. Each of these incredibly entertaining sketches gain millions of views on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s official YouTube page – showing how much of a hit his show is.
Since Jimmy is still young and doesn’t seem to be running out of jokes anytime soon I’m betting he’s going to be appearing on our TV screens making us laugh for a good few more years – much to our entertainment and enjoyment!
