Gender equality and female empowerment were the topics in the limelight over the past year and it’s no wonder that the hairstyles and beauty looks on the runways for autumn/winter are statements in their own right.

Punk Eyed

The punk eye makeup look was very prominent on the Autumn/Winter runways and this messy, sultry smokey eye look is one to look out for next season. A smokey eye with smudged out black eyeliner was a go-to for makeup artists of the catwalks, and is also one of the most easy looks to recreate.

Dewy Skin

Usually dewy skin seems to be more of a summer-time concern, however, the makeup artists made skincare the priority over face makeup. This au-natural look was achieved by applying multiple layers of moisturisers, serums and primers, then being finished off with small amounts of concealer just to hide any minor imperfections. This is extremely important in the winter time as hydrating the skin is key for any look.

Lash Envy

Bold eyelashes were an important feature of the beauty looks for the Autumn/Winter 2018 runways. The eyelashes were accentuated in order to make them stand out and create a real natural yet beautiful effect along with the minimal face makeup.

Sparkle Sparkle

Glitter and sparkles on your skin are usually reserved for one time, and one time only – festival time. However, this trend which usually only confines itself to the Spring/Summer seasons, is a trend to keep an eye of throughout the summer and through to autumn and winter. This trend was done subtly at Chanel by using a gold highlighter, however, Giambattista Valli went all out with fully covered glitter faces.

Blazing Brights

Autumn/Winter of 2018 will be far from dull with all of the summertime brights continuing as the days get shorter and the nights get longer. The neon pop of colour on the eyes is a trend makeup artists were very fond of throughout the runway shows. Colours from pink, green, yellow and orange are all of note. Shows such as Prada, Jeremy Scott, and Kenzo all donned this eye makeup trend.
