In an article published by The College Tribune on Monday 1 March 2021 we made certain claims about NUI Galway student Simeon Burke. The article published a meme of Mr Burke which we characterised as “innocuous”. We now recognise that this meme is harmful and offensive. We also stated that Mr Burke had perpetuated hate speech. This claim is false. We apologise unreservedly to Mr Burke.
